Lake of the Ozarks
Sorry it's been awhile since I last blogged, but I should be back at it know that the ice is off the lakes finally. Anyways I got the opportunity to go down to Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri at I jumped at the chance, This was my first time here and let me tell you it was an experience at that. I have never seen so many docks in my life, I heard there were a ton of them but man they blew me away, they are all of the floating kind and we don't have to many of them here in MN. and it seemed like all there was for shoreline was rock big rock medium rock and little rock and where the rock size changed you could count on catching a fish.
My friends that were on this trip were Dave McCrone,Steve Oswald and John Pozarski, we left Wed. April 8th early in the morning so we could get to the lake in the afternoon and go out for alttle bit in the evening. Just outside of Kansas City there is a new Bass Pro Shops so we had to stop and stretch our legs, LOL good excuse hah anyway we only had alittle bit farther to go and after being in Bass Pro we were all getting pretty excited to get there. We finally arrive at Rock Harbor Resort and check in, it seems like a nice place and the price for the rooms were great.
As we put the boats in the water I noticed quite a few sunfish around the docks and low and behold there were numerous bass up shallow also, we all were really pumped to get going now, so we took off two to a boat Steve and John in Steve's Triton and Dave and I in his Ranger. We fished to dark so about 4 hours of fishing, Dave and I caught some fish sporadically and most were caught between the docks not on them. We all got back to the boat slips at the same time and proceeded to make our climb up mount hillbilly (LOL) up to our cabin , as we were talking to Steve and John about there fishing we saw a picture of John's fish he caught alittle over 5lb's pretty nice way to start the trip. Well the next morning we woke up to rain and cold weather so we lumbered down to the boats and took off, boy I have been meaning to buy a Save Phace mask and this would have been nice to have one
anyways we fished all day hard and it poured even harder than we fished, good thing we all had good raingear. the fishing was tough, we caught fish but it was one here one there and know size tiny to about 2-1/2 lb's.
Fri. morning was cloudy and drizzling this front really sucks, the spot Dave and started on this morning was a secondary point and we caught a number of fish right away 1 to 3 lb's on Jerkbaits(Rapala x-raps). after this action slowed we continued to move around and fish different tactics but could only pick off one once in awhile by the way it started to clear up alittle but the wind started to blow hard and that made fishing more difficult because all we could catch them was with finesse baits.
Sat. we woke up to sunny skies and know wind great day but we knew we were in for another tuff day of fishing with not a cloud in the sky not a good combo in clear water. we were profiled by the Missouri DNR as they stopped us to check our fishing licsense's, we both passed and they were on their way. We found out later that Steve and John were also checked, see what I mean about the profiling of out of state boaters he,he,he oh yeah be careful on the Ozarks the DNR has a cigerette boat on the water that baby moves, they need this because just about every dock has a big cigerette boat on it, everybody trying to up everybody else man there is a ton of money on this lake makes Minnetonka look like the hood.
we arose on Sun. and packed everything up and left to head back home, man I think we were really close to hitting this trip just right but the weather didn't cooperate and we may have been a week or to early oh well it was a great expierence and I had alot of fun and of coarse we stopped at Bass Pro Shops again a person can never have to much tackle.

You are definitely right about the Missouri water patrol profiling out of state boats! I was down their fishing with some friends who live in state and got stopped and they didn't even get so much as a second look.
Oh well no big deal really, I am always legal with all my licenses. And wowow there really is some money at that lake like you said. Most of the boats there seemed like they were ready for the ocean... not a lake in mid mo lol. Bummer about the rain on your trip, but thanks for the info on the ozarks, I had a good time when I was there too. Hopefully I will be heading back sometime soon.

Sounds like you enjoyed your trip to the Ozarks. Next time you will have to try and plan around the weather. There is also over 12 golf courses locally if you are a golfer.
